About Us

CMMS Mission Statement

Crete-Monee Middle School strives to develop principled, knowledgeable, and caring students who positively impact their intercultural community.

To meet this mission, we promote an inclusive environment where inquiry, intercultural understanding,  and open-mindedness are valued, and where student efforts impact their local and global community.

Crete-Monee Middle School is a dynamic learning community serving all of the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students in the CM201U family. As students assimilated into our school we organize them into grade-level teams. Each team has its specific identity and is intended to serve as a personalized learning environment. The core curriculum includes courses in Language and Literature, Mathematics, Science, Individuals and Societies, and Language Acquisition. This core is supported by specialty classes where students explore music, art, theater, and technology. Physical education, health, community projects, and library media information services, complete our program. Active, hands-on, inquiry-based learning, with students working independently and in cooperative groups is evident everywhere. Displays of student work cover the walls. Students engage in interdisciplinary learning as they write in interactive notebooks, develop science lab reports, and research current issues in many of their classes.
